Dieciocho a little early

Last Friday we shut down the office at noon and headed off to celebrate Chilean Independence day (a little early). The even was at a huge soccer field so it could hold our 1,000 or so Santiago based employees.

There were tons of food, drinks, games and entertainment!

Freddy and Maria

The cotton candy machine was a huge hit....Maria and I might have eaten two each.....

Lucie getting in on the delicious pink action

Again we love cotton candy....

more cotton candy love...

Final shot...I promise

On to the games!  Here Lucie is attempting to knock down a stack of cans.

Mauricio took his turn...

And knocked them all down!! Woohooo!  I missed the table entirely!

This is the only game I was successful at. You have a wooden peg and you have the swing the top up and catch it on the wooden peg.

There was fooseball....but I think it's called tak tak here.

And of course cueca dancing...the national dance of Chile

Jaime proving Engineers can even let loose once in a while...long enough to eat an empanada at least.

Party people!! Hernan, Jimena, Don Sergio, and Paula

Lucie showing us how they ride bulls in Canada

I attempted to ride the bull with one hand, however apparently holding on with both hands is acceptable here.

Don Sergio having a turn...

And Miss Trini too!

More cueca people!

Don Sergio showing off his strength

These boys were loitering near the drink table...making sure the chica and terremotos (pisco and pineapple ice cream) were up to standard.

Empanada time!

Empanadas for all!

Coni and Maida getting their empanada on!

It was a great party! I've never seen such a big  to do at a work event. Glad I got to experience and glad it was a nice day! Although I came home with my first sunburn of the season....spring must be on its way!
