Yesterday we decided to retrace Anthony Bourdain's steps from his Santiago episode of No Reservations.
First stop was La Fuente Alemana, a famous German sandwich shop famous for lomitos (sliced pork, sour kraut, tomato salsa, avocado, and a heaping glob of mayonnaise).

I had a churrasca (sliced beef, avocado, tomato salsa, sour kraut). Food was great and quick!
Next we ventured to La Piojera....which means something like flees....or place with flees...or in the old days if you were so drunk, you were drunk with flees...i'm not sure. La Piojera is in el Centro next to the Mercado Central (fish market). It is dodgy to say the least. My first instinct was to leave, but glad we stayed and sampled the terremoto (pineapple sherbet with white wine and some brown stuff).
We found a table in the corner and settled in for some excellent people watching. Lots of professional terremoto drinkers in there half passed out. Some guy at the next table took my picture...I told him that costs 2,000 CLP (4$), but he didn't pay up.

Our third stop of the day was El Hoyo (the hole) near Estacion Central. Here you could dine on multiple parts of a pig or some stew with a hoof in it...but we chose french fries & drinks. We agreed the terremotos at El Hoyo were a lot better than a Piojera.

After El Hoyo, we needed to continue to the party so we went to Patio Bellavista for appetizers and karaoke. Ignacio and his friend, Christian, joined us at this point.
